Hi, I currently own a HP CQ35 laptop, yes I'm well aware that this series is almost 10 years old and possibly the hardware has gone ancient!

 

The "white light" next to the power socket on the laptop is lit. But when I press the power button, it dies immediately and the "white light" does not turn back on. Not until I remove the plug from the socket and re-insert it, does the "white light" come back on. No blinking. No fan sound, no boot sound, nada. 

 

I've been using this laptop without the battery. Only with the adapter power plugged in for as long as I can remember. 

 

I don't really care about saving the laptop anymore (unless this is something really simple to do), but I would like an alternative to at least transfer out the data currently stored in it.

Hi there, I'm using Linux on my spectre x360  13 and unfortunately the lastest bios update (F.48) breaks the headphone jack. I wish to roll backto previous version of bios but they are stuck at initializing when booting the laptop with the bios update utilities' efi files.  Newer update managers work but if I replace bios images in HP/BIOS/New, the tools complain unable to open signiture files, and if I use the windows key + B method then it says it can't find recovery usb.

 

Btw this laptop has a long lasting audio issue with Linux detailed here https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189331,

but I just want to get the headphone jack back working.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use different versions of update tools to flash different bios image? Which files should I replace?

I need to change some advanced options in my bios but it's too simple and does not show enough option to configure.

I specially need to disable/enable ACPI, be able to switch sata between IDE and AHCI and etc.

these options are available in other bioses and some of others versions of insydeh20 but they seem to be hidden.

I am ok with trying modified bios [if it's required], but I could not find anything for this version.

any help would be appreciated.

I tried removing the battery and plugging in the adapter but still didn't boot. When I plug in the adapter the light at the charging point will show indicating it's receiving power but the leds won't show. In summary both removing the battery and putting back the PC still won't boot on. What do I do? Please....Gilbert

Hi,
I've forgotten my password for my HP Pavilion x360 11t-u000 CTO 
It asks me "Enter administrator password or power on password" as soon as the laptop starts.
I'm quite sure I have entered the correct password from memory, But its not working.

After three failed attempts i am given this error code:
68839594

Model : HP Pavilion x360 11t-u000 CTO

Bought a laptop one day and the next it didn't load up.  Contacted support who took over computer and told me I needed to install updates.  Support began update process and it is now over 2 1/2 hours.  In other words, the computer came to me and was an incomplete product.  My suggestion is they should tell you right at the beginning when you open the box, to install updates.  Very unsatisfied.

Hello! I've bought my HP today (HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0xxx) and I was looking to install Kali Linux on an external HDD. After going through the installation I've rebooted multiple times and each time the option 'UEFI boot manager WD My Passport' has shown up and I was able to boot into it without any problems. But after restarting the device, removing the USB and booting into Windows the option doesn't show up anymore in the Boot Manager. Only Legacy mode shows up but this won't work and causes 'No bootable device found' error.

 

I have tried a variety of things including: Enabling/disabling secure boot, enabling/disabling Legacy, tried different USB ports without success and I'm very confused as to what is causing this issue. The drive works most certainly as I'm able to boot into it from another laptop. If anybody has any idea it would be much appreciated!
