I just updated BIOS on my laptop, CD ROM ain't showing up in either Windows 10 or BIOS, I rely on CD ROM greatly and I would like to be provided with BIOS version 1.04 for Chipset M74, I am a Computer expert, I know what I need and what I'm doing, can you fullfil my proposal,

Edit: I have set up Administrator password for BIOS and got access to grey settings, managing to turn on Optical drive
My laptop fails to load past the home screen, I've followed advice to an earlier question and run a system quick check which said: Hard Drive Short DST Check failed and gave Failure ID: RQC3H9-94A9AN-MFPUQK-60R203 - any ideas/advice would be gratefully received as the machine was only bought in May.
I cannot start this notebook. It asks for the administrator or power on password. I tried some that i thought was it and it locked me out with system disabled 84467551. I have looked through older posts of people having the same issues and have tried 15+ different codes given to them, but none of them have worked .Can someone please help! I wanted to give this to my son for Christmas, but am worried I'm not going to be able to now.
I have hard rebooted several times. The last message I received is " unmountable boot volume" then the laptop goes into Preparing Automatic Repair. This screen stays up forever and doesn't seem to be doing anything. I have left it go for more than 8 Hours with no change in the screen. Any help would be appreciated
when i turn on my laptot I get the msg: no bootable image found.
I've tried to click on F10 to fix it, but requests me administrator password.
How can I get around this?

I don't remember my adms password and don't know the power on password.I get code 64713801.how can I fix this issue
Ive been having difficulty upgrading to Windows 10 pro because the original win 7 pro got completetly wiped off the device. I have no way of finding the original bios password since it was saved on the hard drive, previous of it being wiped. I believe I need a personal smc.bin or something like that but I've had no luck getting any reply from HP. Any solutions would be great.

A few months ago I bought a second hand HP Laptop and I wanted to change the HDD to a faster SSD but I found out that the Bios was locked so I cant change were to boot from. I just wanted to know if there is in any way a possibility to reset and remove or create a new password. I asked the guy who had the pc before but he said he also bought it from someone else a few years back because he needed it for his job or something so he didnt know the password either.
Would be happy if I could get an answer as soon as possible.
After three atempts to enter the bios password it showed me the following halt code:

I tryed the following codes from bios-pw.org:

65841070 (not working)

One day when I opened my laptop(win 8 64-bit) I got an error regarding my hdd so I bought a new one, now when I'm installing a new os(win 10) using a cd nothing happens so I search the internet for a solution and I tried several and none of it works. when I change the bios setting (disabling secure boot and enabling legacy boot) and restarted my laptop there is no display, I tried the win key + b/v to restore the bios it doesnt work even of I put in my old hp hdd. I also tried connecting another monitor and it still doesn't work. only blinking caps key.
Any solution for this?
I have set administrator password for bios and it worked.
When I tried to make HP SpareKey USB Recovery Key something went wrong and notebook restarted.
After that my bios password is not working.
Now I get message "Recovery options
System SN: ................
1. Insert HP SpareKey USB Recovery Key"
But this USB is not made as notebook restarted.
What are my options?
Hi folks, I'm new here. Looks like a lot of great answers here but none that help me solve my issue. It seems that others have experienced the same issue but the problem hasn't been solved. My laptop has been functioning perfectly until the other day I released the battery from underneath and slid the metal case off the bottom just to take a look, I didn't touch anything except a little bit of dust that was clogged in the fan, I may or may not have given the fan a little blow of air with my mouth. I then put the case back on and connected the battery and left the laptop on the desk without trying to turn it on. A few hours later I noticed that even though the laptop wasn't on, two of the 4 lights on the very front were lit white, the power symbol led and the lightning symbol. The lightning symbol was alternating between white and orange constantly. I opened the lid to also see the led next to the power on button lit white constantly. I plugged in the laptop and hit the power on button but nothing happened, only the constant led pattern mentioned above. I then tried it without the battery but with the power supply and it was the same. I also tried it with only the battery and it was the same. The battery charge status on the battery itself indicates the battery is 50% charged (2 led out of 4 when button is pressed). I then checked the power supply voltage with a multimeter and it was giving the correct voltage. I then tried a different power outlet with a different power supply, still same problem. I then left the laptop disconnected from all power (including battery out) and pressed the power button for 1 minute to discharge capacitors and reset. Still the same. Then left with no power overnight. Still the same. I then reseated the ram, still the same.
Does anyone have any ideas?
