My HP PAVILION DV6-6163CL had the Hard Drive stolen along with the Carriage. Purchased a 1TB Hard drive then a Carriage. Upon "power-Up" the Screen says I need a Boot Disc. The former HDD had Windows 7 Home Premium, still have the Stickers with Product Keys but don't know where the Serial # for the Unit is (Refurbished Laptop). I useda Recovery disc from a PC that had same Windows 7, but says I need driver's.
Is there any Discs I can get to get this Lap Top operating again?
Automatic windows 10 update resulted in boot to hard disk error screen, no errors on fast and extended test but now update won't boot to windows only system diagnostics black screen of death with hard disk 2 (3F2) error screen, this unit is not 2 months old. pavillion ar050wm

Purchased new the end of 2015. Had issues with lines on the screen withing the warranty period and the microsoft store replace my laptop. I am carefull to not leave my computer plugged in constantly to not cause battery issues. A few days ago I received a low battery warning so I plugged the power supply in. I noticed the backlight didn't get brighter and there was still a warning symbol over the battery. A couple minutes later I received another warning to plug in the charger. I spent time upgrading the bios, removing drivers and what not but when it comes down to it. If the PC is powered down and the battery LED doesn't come on when plugged in it has nothing to do with Windows. Eventually the battery dropped to a level to where it wouldn't turn on anymore. When pressing the power button the battery LED would flash3 times. I tried a friends power supply with the same result. We swapped batteries between machines and mine booted fine with his battery but still didn't charge. We charged my battery back up in his machine then swapped them back. Mine again booted fine but would not charge. I ran the battery test and it showed the battery was OK. Come to find out these notebooks have a known issue with diodes going bad on the motherboard. HP is well aware of this issue. I sent my laptop to a repair center to have the diodes replaced and it is working perfect now. It cost a couple hundred bucks but is better then dealing with virtual assistants that think I have nothing better to do than chat. I love the laptop and would probably have purchased more but am not sure if I can get past HP not owning up to this problem.
My hp pavillion x360 not starting. Screen is blank and caps lock key blink once and power button blink once and this process repeats about 9 times or more. Seems caps lock key blink once and repeatedly rebooting. Battery was weak and i removed it for replacing with a new. Till i search for a battery i started the laptop without a battery several times. After this trouble occured i placed the old battery again and tried to start. But still the same thing happens. Please give me advice.

So I acquired this laptop from a friend who got it from an unknown source. When it starts up it has someones enail address and requires a password. How do I bypass this? To my knowledge theres nothing i can do except get a new hard drive. If that's the case where do I buy one and how difficult would it be to replace myself?
I just purchased an HP Spectre x360. I noticed it produces sounds whenever I use it. I'm not sure if it's the fan or the processor. It also tends to become hot as I use the laptop. I don't play games and only use brower, Excel and sometimes Photoshop. I downloaded Real Temp to check the temperature of my laptop. The minimum temperature is 67C, which I think is high. Is this still normal?

2 days ago, when I started my laptop after 2-3 days suddenly it displayed a blue screen error after that it error appeared saying "BOOT MANGER is missing. System cannot load (Boot).Since then it is only showing black screen while CAPSLOCK LED keeps blinking while WIFI light is on all the time.I can hear my fan working. I’ve already checked RAM and other things but not finding any solution to boot my laptop.
So can anyone help me regarding that ?

Hi I’ve come across an issue with my laptop one day it was working fine and then the next I got this error on my screen “boot device not found. Please install an operating system on your hard disk. Hard disk (3FO). F2 system diagnostics.”
So so far I know how to get up a startup menu with the options of “F1 system information. F2 system diagnostics. F9 Boot device options. F10 BIOS setup. F11 system recovery.”
When i I go into system diagnostics I get this menu titled HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI, then a smaller title “version 1. 17.0.0 - BIOS.
menu options are “memory test, storage tests, language and exit”.
When I go onto memory test it just starts up the memory quick test which takes 37 minutes. When I go onto storage tests I get two options quick check and extensive check and when I click on those it does nothing and takes me back to the main menu on the diagnostics.
I read up about a solition online going to the F10 option and changing the legacy support to enabled and I did that but this message of insert boot device and press any key came up and if you pressed a key it repeated the message.
Idk what to do as before this error showed up it had been asking me to update the laptop for a while but I didn’t have enough space then this message showed up so I don’t know if that helps but anyway if anyone has ideas to help me let me know! Thanks.

Copying that to a usb drive and trying the win + B (or V) still had no effect. I guessing back when this model was made/supported this contengency wasn't really prepared for. When I opened the laptop out of sleep mode, it froze on the lock screen. When I powered it off and turned it back on, it booted to a blank screen. Now, it will only boot to a blank screen. I press the power button, the computer turns on, the power light goes on, and the computer goes to a blank screen. The keyboard seems to work (when I press the Caps Lock key, the light goes on), but the computer stays on the blank screen. Nothing has worked. Here is what I have tried:
I tried connecting the computer to an external display. No joy.
I tried to access the setup, diagnostic, and BIOS menus. I pressed Esc, or F10, or F2, or F12 until my fingers bled. I have fast boot, so I have pressed each of these keys before hitting the power button and then spamming the keys for a good 5-10 seconds after the blank screen appears. I tried fn + F10, 12, 2, etc. Combinations, (Esc + F10) but nothing. The menus don't come up.
I tried Win + B. Didn't work.
I tried Win + V. It worked. I got the following message:
"The CMOS checksum is invalid. The CMOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted. Please check your BIOS Setup options to see if they change.
CMOS Reset (502)
ENTER - Reboot the system"
If I press Enter, it shuts off and restarts to a blank screen. After 15 seconds, same thing. Restarts to a blank screen.
I have tried A BIOS recovery through downloading the previous BIOS version from the HP website onto a USB. I followed the instructions for the Spectre and tried to recover through the USB. Nothing. BIOS recovery/update screen never comes up. Just the blank screen.

hello, i am hoping someone can help me with this.....it is a hard thing to search about as most the discussions are regarding different issues....
i have this laptop i got without any OS installed.....it has a windows 7 sticker on the bottom but i want to put linux on it anyway so the problem is getting into bios so i can load from the USB i made with linux on it....
when i boot it up i get a quick flash of the HP logo....then a blank blue screen with a cursor blinking in the upper left corner.....any button presses result in a loud beep....
how can i get bios f10 etc boot options? or otherwise run from bootable media.......btw if it helps at all this dinosaur still has a cd drive on it....

My HP13 G1 will work just fine for weeks, sometimes more than a month, and then it will just freeze. And the only recovery I can seem to do is a powerwash. This computer does not have a removable battery, hence the only support article I've been able to find on on the subject is not applicable.
