Blue screen when I woke it from sleep mode. Checked the drivers. Unknown device does not have a driver. Haven't been successful yet in getting one from HP. What do I do next?

dv6-2150us --> does not power up.

Hi,

I have a  pavilion dv6-2150us laptop which for unknown reason would not power up. I was working just fine. I shut it down and in a couple of hours would not start. I have kept the power button pressed as others have suggested but nothing happens. It is a dead laptop.

How do I deal with a computer which wont even power up.

One thing that I am thinking of is to change the battery. Prior to the loss of power, my battery needed a replacement. I had to keep the laptop plugged in to work. I couldn't work on battery.

I will appreciate any insights. Thanks

Regards,

Sam

Hello, new to site. I have a 4535s Windows 7 which I bought about 1 year ago new. Ever since I bought it, if it sits idle for a varried amount of time, it will not turn on. The power light blinks. I must remove the battery and charger for a few seconds and then reinstall the battery and it comes on. It seems to be happening more frequently now which concerns me.

Any ideas what is going on?

dv6 6119tx - Broadcom WiFi + Bluetooth adapter turned down by device manager

Hello!

I had first Blue screen error about six months ago but at that time  system ran fine after reboot albeit there have been progressive increase in boot time since the first error. I was asked to chek for the HDD error by HP support staff at that time and it came out clean. I was told not to worry about it much. Over next months this error and started occurring more frequently. Compelling me to monitor these episodes. There have been 8 BSoDs in last two months. These are all caused by ndis.sys, bcmwl664.sys or hal.dll. I'm not sure of other drivers identified at previous crashes since I didn't note them down. Crashes occur all of a sudden without any warning and occasionaly when trying to get back from sleep mode or idling dark screen. Besides these frequent crashes and random freezes  I've following problems

1. Most windows update fail to configure after installing and are reverted

2. it takes excruciatingly long for system to boot with frequent mini freezes and frequent startup repairs.

3. At various points drivers for bluetooth, biometric device, consumer IR devices, wireless LAN adapters vanished just like that and hand to be downloaded again

4. I got shocked/zapped by my laptops on several occasions

5. I've noticed random overheating problems, sometimes fan make loud noises even as I'm booting

6. Not being able to connect with wifi while I can connect with ethernet. I've downloaded Broadcom drivers and installed them from HP website but once again they have vanished

7. Not being able to connect with bluetooth. HP connection manager says that it is tuned off by system.

I've restored my computer back to factory settings once. I use Avast! internet security and MBAM there are no major threat detected.

S.M.A.R.T. status as shown in HP support assistant is - Good while Speccy says - SMART status - warning

Memtest86+ passed twice with not errors detected

InsydeH2O BIOS scan for hard drive -  Hard disk 1 full (305) error on 1 out 4 times I ran the test

Untitled.jpgUntitled4.jpgUntitled1.jpg

Device manager doesn't enlist bluetooth and wireless LAN drivers. According to HP partsurfer this system has Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and 2070 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR combination adapter

dump files as seen in bluesscreenview (does not include two bsods due to bcmwl664.sys

hp split

I just purchased an HP Split Ultrabook (i5). Everything was working until I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and now my trackpad freezes and the cursor disappears. When I check the device manager it says the trackpad is working properly, and if I remove the screen/put it back on it doesn't fix it either. It just randomly starts working again. How can I get it to stop doing this?

Pavilion 17 Windows 8.1 less than 1 month old locks/freezes/hangs multiple times a day

I've got an almost brand new Pavilion 17 that keeps locking up.  Sometimes it'll go 2 days without it occuring, other times, like this morning it froze up 4 times.  It happened twice in 10 minutes yesterday morning.  When it freezes you can't do anything to it but manually shut it down.

This has become incredibly frustrating.  I've tried HP's live tech support to no avail.  Best Buy was even less help.  They want to charge me to look at it even though it's less than 4 weeks old.  They offered the tech support at checkout, but I thought why would I get tech support priced at $200 for a $400 computer?

I have a 2 year old HP notbook, and just today the top row of keys ("esc" key through the "prt sc" key) stopped working. The delete button still works, but nothing else. So I cannot control my brightness, volume, and such. I was just seeing if anyone knew of a way to fix this or if it is in fact just a broken keyboard? Thank you!

I was using my Presario CQ60-215DX when I dropped something on the edge of it. It crashed instantly. After forcing it to shut down, I turned it on again. I can hear different sounds from inside it, the CD drive and stuff. It hangs up right then. The screen never lights up, the wifi light stays orange. What can I do?

BSOD when connecting to hotspot

Hi there,

Getting a BSOD when connecting to Nexus 4 wifi hotspot, and connection problems with any android hotspot. Repeatable. Have updated drivers, restarted, messed with settings such as FIPS and other network settings, attempted to manually connect, and reinstalled windows. One solution found online that I can't try is disabling the 802.11n support as the driver doesn't seem to give me that option. I've ruled out the hotspot as the problem - it works fine connecting to other devices.

Is there a fix for this? The latest wifi drivers for this product are very old and don't help. This issue appears to be common and occur on various devices.

How do I get the Bios password for my Pavilion zv6000 notebook?

I have a HP Pavilion zv6000 notebook and have tried everything from pushing f2 f10 but all it does is it wants to know.....PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility and on the white screen it reads....Enter SETUP Password......I have never had a password for this unless someone else that used this put one in if that's the case I wouldn't know it! Please please please help me! I would gratefully appreciate solving this problem.

envy 4t-1000 BSOD - iaStor

Envy 4t-1000,  13 months old ( & 1 month out of warrenty! ).

Dies with BSOD after few minutes of working - fails with iaStor.sys always.

1. I have figured out that the battery has an internal short - so I have removed it for the time being.

2. Ran system diagnostics - hard drive, memory, (even battery) all returned success in all tests.

3. Ran spinrite on drive - 100% ok.

4. Initially could not get past windows splash screen before dying - so I could not update drivers etc. ( safe mode failed too)

5. I ordered new recovery disks to reinstall because at the start It would not get past windows splash screen before dying.

6. Recovery disks fail every time ( tried 6 times ).  I tried all the suggestions I could find. -would not successfully boot after software was installed.

7. Used boot disk for kaspersky rescue disk - ran fine - no virus - did not crash.

8. Following internet suggestions - installed win 7 home premium from iso downloaded from digitalriver.

9. This install required the intel rapid storage (iaStor) drivers from hp at start before it would find drive - but it installed great.

10. Got fresh windows install to run great for 1 hour.

11. used usb drive to copy latest hp drivers from support site for networking, graphics, usb, etc....

12. Thought I had won - then it BSOD with iaStor.sys failure again.

13. Now, it boots but will die within 5 minutes.

This has got to be a driver issue!  Maybe an inconpatibility with some windows update.

This is a $1000 piece of $hit now that is just a year old.  What gives?  There has got to be someone out there that has fixed this.  I see other posts about the same problem, but I have yet to find a solution.

Please, can someone help me?

help - dv6663cl motherboard failure - unable to move harddrive to another dv hp laptop

My HP DV66623CL just suffered the common motherboard failure.  Since I have another DV6000 series laptop, I want to move my hard drive into the replacement laptop so I can keep all my softare and files.

When I try to boot up in another hp DV6000 series laptop with my old hard drive, windows vista would not boot properly.  I even tried the recovery mode but it just wont get past the initial blue windows background logo.

I know this is possible since I took the original harddrive from the replacement DV6000 and installed onto my friend's DV6000 and it boots up fine.

Something is wrong with the OS on my harddrive, how do I repair it so it will work in another DV6000 series laptop?

thanks in advance

ntoskrnl.exe BSOD, UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP 0x0000007f

Hello,

Please can someone help? I've been trying to fix my (2011) HP Pavilion dv6 3130sa notebook for over a week now & I've ran out of ideas as to what to do next!

My notebook keeps crashing to BSOD and reboots into safe mode options. In Safe mode with networking the notebook seems more stable (so far) which makes me doubt a hardware issue. Also, I have scanned and tested my hard drive (No manufacturer 'Hitachi' scans available so used generic ones) , CPU, RAM (which has been swapped out with known good memory) and GPU (which has had burn-in tests and m/b (limited test with HOT CPU Tester (Lite)), HP Tools, scannow, and many other diagnostic tools with them all saying that my hardware is OK. I have reinstalled Windows 7 three times with an ISO and checked the connectors on my hardrive and ram. However, I still get the blue screen when running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit normally every 30 minutes or so and I get the same culprit: ntoskrnl:

Here are a few results from minidumps (using bluescreenview):

The rest (dozens) are all caused by driver ntoskrnl.exe

Pavilion dv7-4178ca - keyboard and touchpad not operational at login screen

0
0

If I boot my computer into the setup mode, I have full use of the keyboard and touchpad.  As soon as I attempt to enter Windows, the keyboard and touchpad are not operational, so I cannot enter a password, or even move into the password field.

Even if I download drivers from the HP support site (using a different computer), I don't know how I can get them installed if I cannot log into Windows (safe mode doesn't work either).

I'm using Windows 7.

Thanks for any help.

[Edit]

I looked at the similar problem in this thread: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Lockups-Freezes-Hangs/Frozen-touchpad-and-keyboard-on-HP-Pavillion-dv6-3225dx/m-p/1968893#M30042 and the solution is not going to work for me (I cannot afford to reinstall WIndows).

I do have access to a Linux Boot CD, so if there are specific driver files that need to be placed in specific folders, I can do that.  I can probably also get my hands on a WinPE disk (Windows 7-32 bit), but I would need instructions on how to execute driver installation programs from that environment.
