Envy 4t-1000, 13 months old ( & 1 month out of warrenty! ).
Dies with BSOD after few minutes of working - fails with iaStor.sys always.
1. I have figured out that the battery has an internal short - so I have removed it for the time being.
2. Ran system diagnostics - hard drive, memory, (even battery) all returned success in all tests.
3. Ran spinrite on drive - 100% ok.
4. Initially could not get past windows splash screen before dying - so I could not update drivers etc. ( safe mode failed too)
5. I ordered new recovery disks to reinstall because at the start It would not get past windows splash screen before dying.
6. Recovery disks fail every time ( tried 6 times ). I tried all the suggestions I could find. -would not successfully boot after software was installed.
7. Used boot disk for kaspersky rescue disk - ran fine - no virus - did not crash.
8. Following internet suggestions - installed win 7 home premium from iso downloaded from digitalriver.
9. This install required the intel rapid storage (iaStor) drivers from hp at start before it would find drive - but it installed great.
10. Got fresh windows install to run great for 1 hour.
11. used usb drive to copy latest hp drivers from support site for networking, graphics, usb, etc....
12. Thought I had won - then it BSOD with iaStor.sys failure again.
13. Now, it boots but will die within 5 minutes.
This has got to be a driver issue! Maybe an inconpatibility with some windows update.
This is a $1000 piece of $hit now that is just a year old. What gives? There has got to be someone out there that has fixed this. I see other posts about the same problem, but I have yet to find a solution.
Please, can someone help me?
